Each week's title is usually available on the Monday prior to the meeting. It is our usual practice to have a research meeting once every 2 months in place of grand round but not requisite.

| Detail: | Cognitive impairment and dementia are important global health challenges. Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common cause of cognitive impairment and dementia in the elderly population. Effective preventive and therapeutic measures are being actively explored. For AD, anti-amyloid antibody treatment are moderate in efficacy with potential risk of significant adverse effects. Glial cells, especially microglia, play an important role in the progression from amyloid-beta accumulation to hyperphosphorylated tau accumulation in AD. Potential preventive and therapeutic strategies for AD via suppressing microglial activation will be discussed. |
