Biography

Professor Philip Li was the first locally trained Specialist in Immunology & Allergy in Hong Kong and currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He is also Division Chief of Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology at both HKU and the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital. Additionally, he is the Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Allergy and a Board Director of the Asia Pacific Association of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (APAAACI).

Prof. Li is credited with establishing Hong Kong’s inaugural specialist Immunology & Allergy training center and currently spearheads the Hong Kong Drug Allergy Delabelling Initiative (HK-DADI). He also presides over the Immunology & Allergy services of the Hospital Authority Hong Kong West Cluster, which been repeatedly recognized with the Hospital Authority’s Outstanding Team Award. His center also holds accreditations as an Urticaria Centre of Reference and Excellence (UCARE), Angioedema Centre of Reference and Excellence (ACARE), and as an APAAACI Centre of Excellence. Prof. Li's exceptional clinical contributions have earned him the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Public Service and the HKUMed Clinical Service Excellence Award.

With special interests in urticaria, drug allergy, and immunodeficiency, Prof. Li was honored with the Sir Patrick Manson Gold Medal award for the best MD thesis. His distinguished clinical research led to him delivering the Richard Yu Lecture of the Hong Kong College of Physicians. He has led and contributed to the development of numerous local and international guidelines, including the clinical pathway on penicillin allergy testing in the Asia Pacific. To date, Prof. Li has published over 130 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of allergy, immunology and autoimmunity; and serves on the Editorial Boards of Frontiers in Immunology, Frontiers in Allergy, Immune System, Asia Pacific Allergy and Journal of Clinical Rheumatology and Immunology.
