Master of Clinical Research and Product Development (MCRPD)
The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce a new Master of Clinical Research and Product Development (MCRPD) programme for 2026-27 admission. This interdisciplinary programme is designed to nurture students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for clinical research management and healthcare product development.

Our programme covers three core areas of study - clinical therapeutics, clinical research management and healthcare product development, offering students a holistic understanding of the field.

Total Credit Requirements 66 Credits
Class Arrangement Classes are normally conducted in the evening during weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
Class Format Physical classes at HKU Main Campus, HKUMed Campus and/or Queen Mary Hospital;
Occasional hybrid or online lectures, subject to location and availability of speakers.
Tuition Fee 2026-27 full-time intake: HK$ 270,000
2026-27 part-time intake: HK$ 250,000


Curriculum
All MCRPD courses are compulsory. Courses are normally assessed by coursework, presentations, tests and written examinations. Students are also required to complete a capstone project.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the curriculum leading to the degree of Master of Clinical Research and Product Development, candidates shall:

  1. comply with the General Regulations and the Regulations for Taught Postgraduate Curricula; and
  2. hold a Bachelor’s degree of this University, or a qualification of equivalent standard from this University or another comparable institution accepted for this purpose. Preference will be given to candidates who have graduated from healthcare-related programmes; and
  3. satisfy the examiners in a qualifying examination, if required.

 

For applicant who is seeking admission on the basis of a qualification from a university or comparable institution outside Hong Kong, where the language of teaching and/or examination is not English, is required to obtain one of the examination results to fulfil the English language requirements.
