Infectious Diseases

The Division of Infectious Diseases was established very recently at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Department of Medicine at Queen Mary Hospital (QMH) in 2018 by the current division chief Prof. Ivan Hung. The team includes both HKU and Hospital Authority (HA) staff. The team members include Clinical Professor Ivan Hung, holding the Ru Chien & Helen Lieh Endowed Professorship in Health Sciences Pedagogy from HKU and Dr. Anthony Tam, currently resident under the HA. In addition, there are several Honorary Clinical Associate and Assistant Professors from the HA or the private sector who help to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate students. The team works closely with the Department of Microbiology in covering the clinical services in the Hong Kong West Cluster and performing medical research.

Apart from teaching undergraduate medical students and training local infectious diseases physicians, the Division has actively engaged in teaching infectious diseases fellows, general medical and family physicians, and nurses from institutions from local, Macau, Mainland China and overseas. The Division also actively engaged in the Postgraduate Diploma Infectious Diseases (PDipID) program organized by the Department of Microbiology, The University of Hong Kong.
