Rehabilitation Medicine
Division of Rehabilitation is the first multi-disciplinary rehabilitation unit in Hong Kong. We are the pioneer adopting the concept of the World Health Organization (WHO) International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) in clinical practice. We provide our holistic care via inputs from clinical staff, allied health colleagues, and medical-social collaboration.
We provide both in-patients as well as day rehabilitation services for our patients. The base of our service located in Tung Wah Hospital (TWH) and we also have service in MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre (MMRC). Our in-patient services are comprehensive, which created a smooth patient journey and provided good support to family and careers. Our multi-disciplinary Day Rehabilitation Centers provide intensive rehabilitation despite patients were discharged from hospitals. Our division has close collaboration with the division of Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, and Rheumatology to provide organ-specific rehabilitation. At the same time, we are starting to develop acute phase rehabilitation in Queen Mary Hospital. We have our neuro-diagnostic center in TWH which can provide specialized investigations and rehabilitation treatments.
Our division highly values the collaboration with community rehabilitation services to provide streamlined rehabilitation for the patient during recovery. We have a step-down rehabilitation program and direct referral with our community partners.
We engaged in numbers of multi-center clinical studies, and we are enthusiastic in researches of high-tech rehabilitation modalities. We also have collaboration with other universities and academic bodies in Hong Kong.
